Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This policy covers the Parentily app for iPhone and iPad (the "app") and the website at parentily.app. "Parentily," "we," and "us" mean the people who make them. Questions go to [email protected].

2. What stays on your device

Everything you keep in Parentily is stored in the app's storage on your iPhone or iPad:

• your children's first names and colors;
• homework, due dates, repeat schedules, notes, and what's been done;
• photos, files, and links you attach, and scratch-pad drawings;
• timer history, and school emails once your phone has collected them.

We don't have a copy of any of this, and there's no Parentily account or cloud sync. Your device's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) may include it, under Apple's settings and privacy terms. Deleting the app deletes this data from the device.

3. What leaves your device, and why

Finding the assignments in a page

When you ask Parentily to find the homework in a photo, file, pasted text, dictated note, or forwarded email, the app sends:

• the text of that page, which the app reads on your device first;
• for photos and images, the image itself, so the layout can be read;
• anything you type under "Anything specific?", such as "only the tests."

It doesn't send your children's names from the app, your homework list, or anything else on your phone. What's on the page is what gets sent, though. If a worksheet has a name written on it, that name is part of the page.

The request goes to our server function (hosted by Supabase in the United States), then to OpenRouter, which routes it to a company that runs the AI model. Today the models are open models, Qwen3-VL and Llama 4 Scout. Every request requires zero data retention: only providers that don't store what they're sent may handle it, and your content isn't used to train any model. Our server passes the request through without keeping its content. The answer comes back to your phone, where you review each assignment before anything is saved.

If our server can't be reached, the app uses Apple's on-device model instead, and the page doesn't leave your phone.

A random device ID

When you first use these features, the app creates a random identifier and keeps it in your device's Keychain. It isn't connected to your name, Apple ID, email, or advertising identifier. We use it for two things:

• to limit how many pages each device can have read per day, which means counting that device's requests per day (these counts are deleted after 30 days);
• to link your phone to its school-email address, so only your phone can collect that mail.

School email forwarding (optional)

If you turn on School email, the app gives you a private address, such as [email protected]. Only emails that you or your email filter send to that address reach us. We never connect to your inbox.

• Incoming mail passes through Cloudflare's email routing and our Cloudflare Worker to our server (Supabase, United States).
• We keep the sender's name and address, the subject, the date, the text, and at most one attachment (a PDF or image), in private storage that only our server can read.
• Your phone collects waiting emails using its device ID. As soon as it has them, they're deleted from our server.
• Anything that isn't collected is deleted after 14 days.
• We note when the first and the latest email arrived at your address, so the app can show that forwarding works. That record goes when the address does.
• Gmail sends a confirmation email when you set up forwarding. The app shows you its confirmation link or code; it's handled the same way and deleted once collected.
• "Get a new address" deletes the old address, anything waiting there, and its record.

School emails can mention other people, such as teachers and other families. We process them only to show them to you and to find the assignments, which uses the AI step above.

Your voice

Dictation inside the app uses Apple's speech recognition with on-device processing required. Audio never leaves your phone. If you add homework through Siri, Apple handles your voice under Apple's privacy policy, and Parentily only receives the text.

Other things

• Notifications are created on your device when a background check finds new school email. We don't run a push-notification server.
• "Copy a help prompt" copies text to your clipboard. If you paste it into another AI service, that service's privacy policy applies.
• Links you attach open in your browser. The sites they lead to have their own policies.

4. What we don't do

• No advertising, and no analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting tools in the app.
• We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
• We don't sell or share personal information, or use it for targeted advertising.
• We don't use your content to train AI models, and neither may the AI providers that handle it.

7. Children

Parentily is made for parents and guardians to set up and manage. Children may use it on a parent's device, for example to check off homework or use the timer, but the app has no accounts, messaging, or sign-ups for them. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Their names and homework stay on the device, apart from page content sent to be read as described above. If you believe we hold information about your child that you'd like removed, email us and we'll delete it.

8. Your choices and rights

• You decide when anything is sent. Pages are read only when you ask, and School email is off until you set it up.
• Deleting. Delete a child or an item in the app, or delete the app to remove everything on the device. To remove what our server holds for your forwarding address, tap "Get a new address," or email us with your address and we'll delete everything tied to it.
• Your rights. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or California law), you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or object to how it's used. Email [email protected] and we'll reply within 30 days. We hold very little, and nothing that identifies you by name.

Our servers are in the United States. If you use Parentily from elsewhere, the information described here is processed there.

9. Security

Everything between the app, our server, and our providers travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Forwarded email sits in private storage that only our server can read, and only the phone that owns an address can collect its mail. Forwarding addresses are random and unguessable, and you can replace yours at any time. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep as little as we can, for as short a time as we can.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change affects what we collect or share, we'll also say so in the app before it takes effect.
